We're poised – as well as pumped! – to add two new varieties to our roster of snack foods cooked in organic, nutrient-dense coconut oil.
At Natural Products Expo West this week in Anaheim, Calif., the Jackson’s Honest team will announce the introduction of two world’s firsts: three flavors of Jack Chips (an almond- and coconut-flour chip cooked low and slow in organic coconut oil) and Rippled Red Heirloom Potato Chips (our first crinkle-cut potato chip made with a variety of red heirloom potato that’s never before been made into a potato chip).
Jack Chips represent an entirely novel idea: Create a new type of snack chip from almond and coconut flour and fry it low and slow in organic coconut oil. In the works for the last year, Jack Chips are an industry-first; we had to invent a new method for frying this gluten-free, grain-free, paleo-friendly chip.
Jack Chips will launch in summer ‘16 with three flavors: original Sea Salt, Sweet Potato and Cinnamon. Although perfect on their own, Jack Chips can also be eaten as a cracker with cheese, dipped into hummus, or as a dessert with whipped cream or ice cream. We can’t wait to see how and when our customers choose to make them part of their lives. Recipes including Jackson's Honest have never ceased to impress us.
The Rippled Red Heirloom Potato Chips represent the latest addition to our heirloom potato portfolio; these potatoes offer a vibrancy of color (and the associated anti-oxidants) along with a rich, buttery taste thanks to the combination of organic coconut oil and low-and-slow style of cooking. Just like our successful Purple Heirloom Potato Chips, these potatoes are rare, valuable, and represent a farming heritage that started in the high plains of Peru more than 6,000 years ago.
We’ve decided to ripple cut these potatoes and dust them with sea salt, giving the chips a thickness that’s perfect for dipping and a buttery flavor that works just as well on its own. The Rippled Red Heirloom Chips will launch in summer ‘16 once our harvest of red heirloom potatoes ripen and mature.
"We are so proud of the new Jack Chips and Rippled Red Heirloom Potato Chips – we’ve been working on these new products for a year, and they represent an absolute labor of love for all of us at Jackson’s Honest,” said Jackson's Honest founder Megan Reamer, who with her husband started frying chips with coconut oil in their kitchen as a healthy alternative for their four children. “Nothing makes us more proud than to expand the number of foods we offer with organic coconut oil, giving our customers even more opportunity to incorporate organic coconut oil into their diets.
"Our long-term mission remains to offer Fat-Forward™ foods that bring traditional, ancestral fats back into the food chain; these four new snacks allow us to do just that in a whole new category.”
All four new products will be available for tasting at Expo West. Look for all three varieties of the Jack Chips as well as the Rippled Red Heirloom Potato Chips to launch this summer.
Speaking of Expo West! We're very much looking forward to it March 9-13 at the Anaheim Convention Center. Please visit us at the show! We'll be at booth No. 8904.
Projected to be the largest in its 36-year history, the sold-out event will play host to more than 3,000 companies and more than 70,000 attendees, which makes Expo West a natural venue for debuting four more natural products from our family-owned business in Colorado.
“What better place than Expo West to launch some more Jackson’s Honest world’s firsts!” said Reamer.
